Canoe Trips

At Nature Tours of Yukon, we offer four distinct canoe trips that run anywhere from eight days to 15 days. However, if you would like to book a Northern Lights tour but you only have a day for some canoeing down the Yukon River, we would be more than happy to arrange that for you. Many of our guests want to partake in canoe trips but do not have a week or more to spend doing so. For this reason, we have made it possible for guests to pick and choose the activities they want to do when they come to Whitehorse Yukon Territory , whether it be for a couple of days or two weeks.

One of the great aspects to taking guided canoe trips is that you can take in the natural beauty that surrounds you without having to worry about rough waters or getting lost. Your guide will know some great places to stop and try your hand at fishing, which is thrilling for some people who have never had the chance to catch and eat their own lunch or dinner. Our guides are residents of the area and know the Yukon River, as well as the Wind River, the Liard River, and the McQuesten River. You will get the chance to see wildlife in their natural habitat, such as bears, beavers, marmots, caribou, fish, and a plethora of wild birds.

Along the McQueston River in the summer months, you will likely encounter some bears that are fishing for salmon that are migrating upriver to the spawning grounds. This is truly a sight to be seen. Make sure you bring your camera with you because you are likely going to see nature at its finest, definitely worthy of a picture or two. Your guide will also be able to point out historic points along the way, as well as suggest hiking trails in the area if you have that arranged for your specific canoe tour.

Yukon Canoe Trips

For the more adventurous at heart, the Liard River is an experience not to be passed up. If you want to immerse yourself in the wilderness, you cannot go wrong with our Liard River canoe trip. You will get the opportunity to fish in the crystal clear waters of the Caribou Lakes for Northern Pike. The Liard River is not as heavily traveled as the other local rivers, which means the wildlife is out in abundance. Keep your eyes open for moose, bears, ducks, beavers, Dall sheep, and a variety of wild birds. In the evenings, you can relax around a warm campfire with your fellow travelers, and enjoy the fruits of your fishing efforts, and perhaps get a glimpse of the dazzling Aurora Borealis.
